Academia Uruguay offers Spanish courses just off Plaza Matríz / Constitución, in Montevideo, Uruguay. We offer both individual and group courses on all levels, from beginners’ levels to very advanced and even Spanish teacher training courses. Our school is located in a recently restored historic building in heart of the old city of Montevideo, in the pedestrian area. The most interesting parts of the city are in the immediate surroundings of the school. Beaches within a 15 minute walk. We have excellent public transport options to all parts of town.

Since the foundation of the school in 2007, Academia Uruguay has grown to become the leading Spanish language school in Uruguay, with about 400 students per year and the possibility to combine courses with our sister school, Academia Buenos Aires, in Argentina. We have 8 classrooms, a patio and a rooftop terrace from where you have spectacular views over the old city and the harbor. In the same building as the school, students can live in a shared apartment which houses 5 students in extremely comfortable large single rooms and a spacious common area.

An ever increasing number of former students who recommend us and return year after year, as well as recommendations by guidebooks such as Lonely Planet, Footprint and many others have helped us build our reputation of the leading school in Uruguay. Academia Uruguay has an excellent academic track record. We have been certified by Tandem International®, are a founding member of the Uruguayan Association of Spanish schools (grupo de turismo idiomático) and an associate center of the Cervantes Institute. Every year we participate in international seminars and workshops, we produce and edit our own study books and offer teacher training courses for teachers around the world, both online and offline. We regularly receive study groups and academic programs from various countries.

Complete immersion is an important part of language learning. We suggest that our students enrich their learning experience by participating in our extracurricular activities, almost daily and free of charge, and by sharing daily routines with an Uruguayan host family in a homestay arrangement. Host families in Uruguay are particularly caring for their guests, which is probably a reflection of the small size of the country and a very special cultural setting.

We offer professional service in a relaxed and pleasant environment. The very location and setting of the school makes for a perfect learning environment.
